St. Ann’s parish in Fort Ann is having a celebration to honor St. Ann and all mothers and grandmothers July 29 after 9 a.m. Mass. “Did your mother have a special recipe that she made for family get-togethers? Is there a tried-and-true dish that your grandmother saved for very special occasions? Please prepare one of these special dishes to share so that our entire parish can honor your mother/grandmother,” the bulletin asked....

Sacred Heart parish in Castleton is the latest to begin live-streaming a Mass over the internet. The 9:30 or 10:30 a.m. Sunday Mass is now available at www.youtube.com (type SacredHeartCastleton, all one word, into the search box); viewers can watch the Mass live or watch previous weeks’ Masses anytime. The parish hopes to live-stream weddings, funerals, baptisms and more so those who can’t attend can experience them.

Sacred Heart also had a gardening night for youth ministry members where they weeded and watered the parish gardens and then had ice cream sundaes....

St. Mary’s in Glens Falls is selling raffle tickets for a “dinner with the Fathers:” REVS. TOM MORRETTE and DES ROSSI will make dinner at the rectory for eight people. “We are good cooks, especially if you like Italian food, so no fear,” the priests assured ticket-buyers.

St. Mary’s had a committee meeting to plan the construction of a parish center with seating for 200 people, a kitchen and space for its food pantry and for parish meetings, faith formation classes and a meeting room for the Knights of Columbus.

Boy Scout Troop 2, which has members from St.  Mary’s and St. Michael’s in South Glens Falls, has been busy: Scouts spent a week at Camp Curtis Read in Brant Lake and earned 55 merit badges in leatherwork, Indian lore, kayaking, photography and more....

Immaculate Conception par­ish in Glenville had a blessing for four young women heading off to the JUST5DAYS program in Springfield, Mass.: SOPHIA GOSS, CARRIE WAT­KINS, OLIVIA WETMORE and (from St. Joseph’s parish in Scotia) ELLA MERENBERG, along with CHRISTINE GOSS, pastoral associate for youth ministry, were to spend a week in ­inner-city Springfield. Each young woman was given a cross to wear and assigned a prayer partner for the week....

All Saints on the Hudson parish in Mechanicville/Stillwater invited REV. BOB LONGO­BUCCO, diocesan vicar for faith formation, and LISA KUBAN, the youth minister from St. Kateri Tekakwitha parish in Schen­ectady (where Father Longobucco is pastor), to speak to catechists on moving faith formation from a maintenance program toward evangelization and “best practices” of that model of religious education....

St. Thomas in Delmar has scheduled a “food for thought” event on “Christian advocacy in today’s political world” Oct. 15, with talks on effective ways to advocate on federal issues, current issues in the House of Representatives, social justice, the principles of Catholic social teaching, the Catholic Action Network, the Capacity Strengthening Initiative (CSI) and local and state issues being addressed by ecumenical groups....

Immaculate Conception par­ish in Hoosick Falls is having a kayak and canoe paddle on the Hoosic under the Buskirk covered bridge July 27, 7:45 p.m.; participants will have wine and cheese as they watch the full moon rise over the river.

There will also be a harvest festival Aug. 15, starting with Mass at 6 p.m., followed by a picnic....

Sacred Heart parish in Lake George welcomed the musical group Joyful Noise and director DR. DOMINIC CARRILLO at a recent Mass. Project Dawn at St. Michael’s parish in Troy, previously profiled in The Evangelist for serving meals on weekends to people who are homeless or struggling in the city (see www.evangelist.org), just celebrated its one-year anniversary. The group has been serving 50 people a week, offering food and clothing.
