The annual Women’s Expo at St. Theresa’s parish Windham (profiled last year in The Evangelist; see www.evangelist.org) will be held Aug. 18, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The massive event includes 40 vendors, demonstrations and mini-classes on “health, wellness, fitness, fun and frills;” proceeds benefit the Greene County domestic violence shelter. Last year, 500 people attended and a donation of $8,500 was made to the shelter. There will be many food options; local musicians; on-site broadcasting by WRIP 97.9 FM radio; representatives of elected officials; a putting green competition; classic cars; Master Gardeners to answer questions; a bee colony; quilters; kids’ activities; clothing, shoes, accessories and jewelry; soap, books, cards, collectibles, antiques and pottery; information on tattoos; drawing, fitness classes, chair yoga and massages; diet, health and nutrition advice; information on literacy, addiction recovery, social services and help for the elderly and persons with dementia; and connections to courses at Columbia Greene Community College. Lifelong parishioner MARJORIE MCNAMARA HOPE of Sacred Heart Church in Troy will celebrate her 100th birthday Sept. 10. The widow of Leo Hope, she is the mother of five children, grandmother of 10  and great-grandmother of 11.
